Well continuing the series of my all time favorites ... it is not really my favorites but movies which were a part of my growth ...or which had an high impact during that phase of my life and stayed on ....

the next in the series would be .....

2. Pretty Woman

Well , this was a very iconic movie .. it was sometime when I was in my 1st or my 2nd PUC , studying in National college Jayanagar ..and then we were a gang of 4 .. myself , Naresh , Deepak and Praveen with whom I went out for the first English movie. This was in Rex Theater - Brigade road Bangalore.

I was always a Bollywood fan and the only few English movies i knew was  Sound of Music , or the movies which  my dad used to take me  ( once per month .. I saw a lot of movies like Sound of Music , Bullet Train , Where Eagles Dare ..etc with him . )

But somehow Pretty Woman remains iconic , for lot of reasons .. it was my first outing with a gang of friends , first movie which was sweet , romantic and naughty at the same time. It was first time when I  felt very hep , you know college guys hanging around together , going for a English movie ... having Thumbs up in our hands ... felt good .

About the movie , well it still remains a very well reviewed and one of the must see movies in any English movie chart.  After this I guess a dozen movies have been done in both Hollywood and Bollywood with the same theme but I don't think they can ever match the original.  Story wise very simple ... Rich guy meets a prostitute .. likes her ..and converts her to being more social and adapts her to fit into his society and finally falls in love with her..   So sweet !!!!  watch it ..you wont be dissapointed.

One more nice memory I have here , is after the movie the 3 guys( not me ) decided to have a hamburger ...and I was like what in the world is that ... and since I was on a limited pocket money those days , was trying my best to avoid this new indulgence which people where talking about. But one of them sensed it and said ..just hang on with us .don't worry you can pitch in later ... so I thought what it so special .. And that was my first visit to INDIANA'S just opposite to REX ..... and I was doomed ..they had the best burgers in town .. I ordered a vegetarian Burger and he gave it to me with a bottle of mayonnaise ..and YUM YUM YUM .. that was the best mayonnaise I ever had in my life ..  I mean we emptied like 2.5 bottles of mayonnaise with 4 burgers.   People were wondering if we are eating Burgers with Mayonnaise or the other way around.

That is when i found out the first famous dine out place in Bangalore - INDIANA'S ..and after that I am not sure how many times I have gone there and introduced several of my friends to Indiana's .. Sad that in my last trip to Bangalore i found that it has been closed.

Like all good things which have to end , i guess this was also one of them ..

but whenever I think of Pretty Woman .. all this comes to my mind ..the friends  the movie and the burger ...I would say one of my most memorable days of my life where I felt very nice and slept with a big smile :))).. and I still have a smile writing and sharing all this ...!!!!!!

thats it for now ,, more later ......

10 films which influenced me at different phases ......

hmm Just realized...

that my last blog was somewhere in 2011 ... maybe I  hit the writers block syndrome way too early.

so what do we speak about ..of course it has to be with respect to movies..

so let me talk about my top 10 favorite movies & the memories associated with it.

1. LAMHE  ( *****)

you can have a peek a boo here

well what do i say about this movie , Chandni had just released and I was head over heels over Sridevi.

This was during my II PUC ( 12th grade) when Lamhe released . I was quite eager to watch it ..and so after my morning physics tuition ( we were very studious in II PUC rite  )  myself and a friend of mine bunked college and went all the way to Majestic - Santosh theater to watch the morning show ( it was the first show of the day).

For the next 3 hours I was in supreme bliss ... wow what an movie .. I was just mesmerized by  Sridevi , locations , story ...everything each frame was so colorful and presented so well.... Of course I don't believe I can write a review here because people will call me biased... and I am :)))

This went on ,After watching I forced my parents to watch , this means I watched it again in the same theater and what a co-incidence the friend of mine had also come again to watch the same with his brothers and sisters.  Of course we met and we said nice movie ..worth watching once !!!!!

This movie stayed with me for life I must say , the next step was when I was waiting for the video cassette release and bought the original one , and then it became a routine who-so-ever stepped into my house had to watch lamhe with me , so  you wont believe it .. in just 2 years I had watched the movie around 45 times.

45 times !!!!!!!! really .. till date this is the only movie where I can repeat  the whole movie with dialogues to anyone .... do not dare to challenge me on this !!!!!

Then came DVD days , and I again bought the DVD of the movie , at this point of time both my parents were irritated to the core if I even talk about Lamhe.

Life moved on,  got married , moved abroad and  my better half shares the same sentiments for this movie. and you wont believe what I did....last august 2012.

On our last India vacation I bought the BLU RAY :))))) and people were like cmon  dude give us a break here.

But truly anything to watch LAMHE on the big screen , with a great print ... anytime ... every-time.

Kane and ABel

Being a die hard fan of movies , of late I realised what a fool we as a audience are made and why our directors cannot think of anything new. It is like the age old saying "old wine in a new bottle"

The director we are discussing today is Mr. Rakesh Roshan.

Where do I begin , well lets start with the blog title "kane and Abel " , This is a very famous novel from Jeffery Archer ..and it was made into the movie "Khudgarz" starring our famous Jitendra and Shatrughan sinha. Quite a good movie for those days but mixed with our usual bollywood flair of songs , emotions and drama.

This is not the point , look at how intelligently Rakesh Roshan uses the same plot over and over again..Lets get dissecting one by one

1. Khudgarz

Shatrughan sinha is ruined and somehow comes back being a rich man , in order to take revenge on Jeetendra. So observe the comeback routine and just maintain your thought on this one.

2. Khoon Bhari Maang

one of my al ltime favorites , same case again . Rekha falls prey to a crocodile , Her life turns topsy turvy , but she comes back as a Model with a new look and gets her revenge. So here we go again .. comeback/revenge saga.

3. Koyla

Shahrukh plays a guy with no voice , gets beaten up black and blue ...and lo !! behold gets his courage and voice back to take revenge on Amrish puri.

4. Karan Arjun

The same -same , Karan and Arjun are reborn and take revenge of thier mom on Amrish puri. Poor Amrish puri ...may not have realised he is been taken for a ride. !!! on a different note ..hope the catch word .. comeback / revenge is still fresh in your brains.

5. Kaho na pyaar hai

First Hrithik gets killed for watching a crime scene , and a newer smarter Hrithik comes over and take revenge .. Interesting watch but the story is the same but in a new form.

6. Koi Mil Gaya

Hrithik is a retard , who gets help from Aliens and finally there is a transformation into a action hero (sort of ) and finally is able to save Alien from Man - slaughter.

7. Krissh

This is a super duper comeback , a character from the previous movie comes alive in this movie .. it is like a joke i once heard ...

lallu: hey , which book are u reading
bantu: hey , it is a suspense novel ..just awesome
lallu: is it !!! why so
bantu: because the murderer is hiding in a different novel.

so papa krissh comes back , and beta krissh takes revenge on the bad guys.

well your honour , I rest my case ..not that i have anything against Hrithik or Rakesh roshan .. at each stage of my life I have enjoyed all the above movies as a spectator ..but my only thought is should i congratulate him for thinking and making such a beautiful camouflage , or is there a hidden message or a fine detail which we as a audience fail to perceive.

Then why are we always called as an Intelligent audience !!!!

bye
